“Help me do it myself!” – Maria Montessori

General information:

  • Always work on a table and place your working hand on it

  • Only work with the pricker
Never remove adhesive film parts with fingernails or by bending
→ Otherwise the adhesive film will be permanently damaged

  • Provide wastepaper baskets and trays if necessary

  • exercises fine motor skills, concentration & color understanding

Create a sand picture:

  • 1. Remove contours (if any)
→ Sprinkle with black sand (contrast)

  • 2. Work on surfaces from the inside out
    → Sprinkle with colored sand
Tip: Place the template in a sand bowl and carefully sprinkle sand over it

  • 3. After each step:
Tap the template vigorously from the back (excess sand)

  • 4. Don't forget the background

Creative effects:

  • → Sprinkle different colored sand with your fingers one after the other to create color gradients (salt scattering technique)
  • → Tear off the protective film piece by piece or carefully fold it

Further information:

  • For each color:
    → A large bowl + 1 spoon if necessary

  • No additional fixation necessary
Do not laminate! (Does not stick to the sand)
Instead: Frame - protects against dust and scratches

  • For groups:
Work stationary, i.e. set up a standing work table with wastepaper baskets for removing the foil parts and one for the bowls of colored sand (place these at a distance from each other, with similar colors of sand next to each other.

  • First explain, then craft:
→ Inform children first before they start, otherwise they will no longer listen

Safety instructions:

  • Small parts – choking hazard, not suitable for small children! Supervise children only.

  • Colored sand = non-toxic, without hazardous substances

  • Use the pricking device carefully – at your own risk
